RE: Not Against Transparency

Abuse of transparency requires complicit silence

Transparency makes analysis possible. Unfortunately, it does not make rational analysis any more likely. I see Hate radio and the prominence of extremist responses to online news articles as examples of abuse of transparency in public discourse. Responsibility for the damage done by this protuberance of violent voices belongs to the complicit silence of other voices as well as to the willfully misleading speakers. Developing, linking, and promoting forums like the evolving blog platforms are a step toward creating broad-based civil discourse that is truly civil.
